Often times, many people, particularly those who have grown up in church, have been taught Jeremiah 29:11. They are taught that God has a purpose for their lives and a plan for them to prosper, therefore they focus on finding their path to prosperity.
But just for a second I want you to think of it from a bit of a different perspective.
What if sometimes our purpose is not just about the path God has for us to follow to our prosperity, but the paths of those he wants us to help prosper?
Maybe there is something rewarding and fruitful about being a blessing to someone else. What if we gain hope by bringing someone else hope? What if we find love when we give it away?
I'm not saying this verse shouldn't be counted as a promise from God for each of our lives, because it is. I just found it refreshing to think that maybe it's not all actually about us being blessed, but God turning us into a blessing.
We were created with a heart to serve others, so I find it completely logical that in humility and service to the needs of others, we find a certain joy and sense of purpose. It's just the way we were created.
