For years, I have known my Christian Salvation to be a process of Jesus "coming into my heart." Then, the other day, I had a revelation. Jesus' Spiritual residence is the source of life in our physical bodies. The blood that flows from our heart literally stretches to every part of us that moves! Think about that! What a concept. As the love of Jesus fills our heart, the natural thing is for it to affect how we reach out to others!
I think it's a beautiful picture of how life should work. Christians should be fueled to love others by how much they are loved by Christ. We are told to be the hands and feet of Christ by serving others. We are supposed to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, help the sick, and go to those who need to hear the Gospel. How does one do these things? We use our eyes to see the problem, our feet to go, and our hands to serve or solve the problem. The same Jesus who told us to do these things is the very one who is on the inside making sure we are able to!
To me, that concept has rocked my world and caught my attention this week. Paul told the Corinthians that the world should know us by our LOVE because having Jesus on the inside should make us look different in the way we live, give, and serve on the outside. He is love, living in our hearts; our hearts give purpose to the actions by sending life to the moving pieces; and the pieces fulfill their purpose of actively loving others. It's a beautiful cycle, and I just believe there is too much complexity intertwined into our being to believe that we were anything other than crafted by a Creator.
